Course Description
The course objectives cover teaching the skills under the following main categories:
- Reading foundations & Phonics
- Grammars
- Spelling
- Vocabulary
- Reading & Comprehension
To teach the skills under this subject, the course uses a variety of teaching methods to ensure mastery of intended skills, as well as the correct applications of said skills and gained knowledge. The various teaching methods include: engaging video explainers, video lectures, advanced graphics and animation, interactive exercises, gamification, interactive illustration, various assessment styles, and online exams.
The following are highlights of the curriculum content, curriculum chapters, and English language skills covered in the course.
Chapter 1: Phonics Part I
Vowels (a, e, i, o, u), Short vowels, long vowels, Magic e, Blending Sounds, Blending and Segmenting, Rhyming, One-Syllable Word, Two-Syllable Word, Diphthongs, Digraph, Sight Words ……and many more.
Chapter 2: Phonics Part II
Blending Sounds, Blending and Segmenting, Rhyming, Diphthongs, Vowel digraph, Sight Words, ……and many more.
Chapter 3: Phonics – Part III
Blending Sounds, Blending and Segmenting, Rhyming, Diphthongs, Digraph, Sight Words, Silent letters ……and many more.
Chapter 4: Reading – Part I
Learn new vocabulary (campsite, time, ingredients, the five senses), Read-along texts about a day at the campsite, a visit to the zoo, a mother’s day at home, and how to make cookies, Read sentences and match them to pictures correctly.
Chapter 5: Reading – Part II
Learn new vocabulary (the names of planets, baby animals, cycling safety equipment, and variant activities), Read-along texts about the solar system, the baby animals, safe cycling, and outdoor activities, Read sentences and match them to pictures correctly.
Chapter 6: Grammar – Part I
Nouns (person, animal, place, or thing), Identify type of nouns, Singular and plural nouns (-s, -es, ies), Irregular plural nouns, Identify countable and uncountable nouns, Identify and use quantifiers (some, any), Choose the correct quantifier in a sentence, Identify adjectives, Use the adjective that describes a given noun, Indefinite articles (a, an), Choose the correct indefinite article in a sentence .……and many more.
Chapter 7: Grammar – Part II
The verb to be (is, am, are, was, were), identify the verb “to be” in a sentence, Use the right verb “to be” in a sentence. The verb to have (have, has), Use the right verb “to have” in a sentence.
Chapter 8: Grammar – Part III
Question words (what, when, who, where, how), use 5W, Identify a sentence and question. Identify the demonstratives (this, that, these, those), Use the demonstratives in a sentence. Synonyms and antonyms, Choose the synonym or the antonym of a given word. Prepositions (between, among, behind, above, in front of), Select the best preposition to complete a sentence.
Chapter 9: Listening – Part I
Listening and comprehension, Listen to short stories about good manners, the magic balloon, summer vacations. Answer questions about the stories.
Chapter 9: Writing – Part I
Write Uppercase and Lowercase Letters (n, o, p, q, r, s, t, u, v, w, x, y, z), Identify and draw images that correspond to letter sounds, Match the uppercase letters to the lowercase letters, Read and spell the words introduced in the no excuse words list (ball, big, come, cut, feel, house, jump, light, old, these) and many more
