Course Description
The course objectives cover teaching the skills under the following main categories:
- Reading foundations & Phonics
- Grammars
- Spelling
- Vocabulary
- Reading & Comprehension
To teach the skills under this subject, the course uses a variety of teaching methods to ensure mastery of intended skills, as well as the correct applications of said skills and gained knowledge. The various teaching methods include: engaging video explainers, video lectures, advanced graphics and animation, interactive exercises, gamification, interactive illustration, various assessment styles, and online exams.
The following are highlights of the curriculum content, curriculum chapters, and English language skills covered in the course.
Chapter 1: Reading – Part I
Learn new vocabulary (names of aquatic animals, rides in the amusement park, vehicles, and famous landmarks),
Read and understand informational texts about aquatic animals, modes of transportation, and famous landmarks. Read and understand a story about a day at the amusement park.
Chapter 2: Reading – Part II
Learn new vocabulary (parts of the body and idioms), Read and understand a biography about Thomas Edison, Identify story elements “The Broken Vase”, Read and understand an informational text about parts of the body, Read and understand a story about the first day at a new school.
Chapter 3: Grammar – Part I
Regular verbs (-ed, d), Irregular verbs, Form and use the regular and irregular past tense, Present simple, Identify and use the present simple verb in a sentence, Past simple, Identify and use the past simple verb in a sentence, Future plans (going to), Object Pronouns (me, her, him, it, you, them, and us), Identify and Use pronouns, Choose the correct object pronoun in a sentence,
Chapter 4: Grammar – Part II
Common and proper nouns, Identify the common and the proper noun in a sentence, Synonyms and antonyms, Choose the synonym or the antonym of a given word. Homophones and multiple-meaning words, Choose the Homophones of given words, Identify adjectives, Use the adjective that describes a given noun, Use the short form of comparative and superlative adjective, Identify adverbs (adverbs of manner, adverbs of place, adverbs of time), Use the correct adverb in a sentence, Definite and indefinite articles (a, an, the), Choose the correct indefinite article in a sentence.
Chapter 5: Grammar – Part III
Possessive adjectives (my, his, her, its, their, our, your), Use the right possessive adjective in a sentence, The verb to have (have, has), Use the right verb “to have” in a sentence, Identify possessive nouns, Use and write possessive nouns correctly, Prepositions (in, on, under, next to, between, among, behind, above, in front of)
Chapter 6: Listening – Part I
Listening and comprehension, listen to short stories about girls describing their houses, good manners, healthy eating. Answer questions about the stories.
Chapter 7: Writing – Part I
Identify and use punctuation marks (comma, period, question mark, exclamation mark), Identify and use conjunctions (and, but, or), Identify complete sentences and sentence fragments, Read and spell the words introduced in the no excuse words list (always, ask, because, carry, friend, great, know, mother, much, pick) and many more.
